BRAHMS AND LAKS

Hartmut RohdeThe program of the concert in May will include works of Johannes Brahms, Robert Fuchs and Szymon Laks.  Szymon Laks, Auschwitz prisoner, survived this concentration camp thanks to the fact that he was involved in leading the orchestra.  His works, although very melodic, sound like  echo of the 20th century history tragic events.

The concert will be conducted by Hartmut Rohde, NFM Leopoldinum artistic director

AGATA SZYMCZEWSKA, LEOPOLDINUM …

AGATA SZYMCZEWSKA… and Wroclaw premiere of the violin concerto by Latvian composer Peter Vasks.  This concerto is described as „sensual, beautiful and glamorous”.  Dedicated to Gidon Kremer and premiered in 1997, it is one of the most frequently recorded contemporary violin concerto.
Three Rossini’s sonatas will be performed in the second half of the concert.  Composer was 12 years old only when he composed a set of 6 sonatas.  Those sonatas are virtuosic for all members of the string orchestra – except violas.  Violas are free – „tacet”.
The concert will be conducted by Christian Danowicz.
